A Michigander-turned-Californian, I write for the Press-Tribune newspaper in Roseville, California. In June 2016 I finished my MFA in creative nonfiction at Portland State University, where I was a science writer for the PSU Vanguard. My work has appeared in under the gum tree, Gadfly Online, Traverse magazine and Horizons magazine. I am also working on a book about Michigan’s Kingston Plains. I like writing about science and the environment, in either personal essay or journalistic format—though I do venture out and write about things like comic book shops or bar taxidermy or metalsmithing. In the environmental realm, I prefer to write about soil science, wildfires, and issues surrounding water/drought.
Someday I wish to be an author of general-audience narrative science books and maybe an amateur geologist.
